Pesatas to Sterling conversion needed from 1988?

I have just watched the ONLY FOOLS AND HORSES episode where Rodney wins the painting competition and goes to Spain with Del and Casandra and wins the lottery. They win 1,000,000 Pesatas but they can’t clain it as Del has forged Rodney’s passport so he passes for a 14 year old. I’m Having an argument with my mate whether 1,000,000 Pesatas was alot of money in 1988. Please help as soon as possible please.
